Aside from a campus visit over the summer, contacting the local admissions rep and signing up for the local admissions event (in Los Angeles), what else can be done to show interest in AU? I’m thinking about going back for one of their overnight visits and am trying to see if it will work out. Any tips since I am on the other side of the country?
Thanks!
I’m sure they take into accountant the area you are from. If you are within easy driving distance they would probably expect more visits. I think there are webinars that you can sign up for too. Of course the ultimate in demonstrated interest is ED. I know for my son another visit just won’t work because we are also a fly-in to visit. He’s has serious rigor in his courses this year and can’t miss school. He competes in debate events & scholar bowl events throughout the year, so we can’t get away on weekends. We have visited twice, a regular visit and a preview visit before school started. He keeps in touch with his admin rep.
Get an interview when they come to your area. Show up at any event where American is at and check in. Stay in contact with you rep. If you get an interview, send a letter thanking them for the interview. The fatter you can make your folder at the admissions office, the better. If it is your top choice and you know that you will go there no matter what, then apply ED1.
You’ve probably already done enough. The reason they want you to show interest is to be more confident you will say yes if they accept you. It is a yield protection strategy.
