Is demonstrated interest important to Princeton? We live pretty far away (in the South), and we are trying to decide whether to tack a Princeton trip onto our DC trip this summer! My ds is interested in IR.

TIA!

TIA!

Not important at all. They assume all their applicants are serious about attending.

Princeton stopped on campus interviews so that regional applicants do not have an advantage over applicants that cannot afford to visit the university. A campus visit is not required. All applicants are provided the opportunity to interview with an alumnus in their area.

However, since your son is interested in IR it might be very helpful for him to visit the campus to see the Woodrow Wilson School. When Professor Anne-Marie Slaughter was policy planning director for the U.S. State Department she maintained her home in Princeton and commuted to DC. It is an easy train ride from DC to Princeton. Consider a visit to the liberty bell in Philadelphia and the Revolutionary War battlefield in Princeton.

Thanks, PtonAlumnus. We are trying to coordinate with my dh’s work trip, so we are rather tight on time. We’d like to make it work. We shall see!
