Hi! I am getting conflicting answers when I search. Does Emory University track demonstrated interest? If so, how do I demonstrate interest, especially as an international student that is unable to visit (many virtual sessions are also not great for my timezone). Do emails help? On College Board it states that “Diversity, character and maturity, and indications of interest considered” but the Emory website says interest is not part of admissions. Besides email, how can I show interest?
https://provost.emory.edu/planning-administration/_includes/documents/sections/institutional-data/Emory-Common-Data-Set-2019-2020.pdf (section C7) says “level of applicant’s interest” is “not considered”.
However, common data sets are sometimes out of date or contain errors compared to current admissions policy at the college. But this older (2016) blog post from Emory says “Does demonstrated interest matter at Emory University? Nope!”
Given that two Emory sources say that Emory does not consider level of interest, that suggests that the secondary source (College Board) is more likely to be in error.
http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1626043-ways-to-show-a-high-level-of-applicants-interest-p1.html is an older thread about how to show a high level of applicant’s interest.
@ucbalumnus Thank you for your guidance!
