I know that Washington University in St. Louis cares a ton about their yield rate and demonstrated interest. But, what about other schools? I'm trying to decide which universities to send my National Merit stuff to.

I'm wondering about:

Northwestern
UChicago
Cornell
Carnegie Mellon
Johns Hopkins
Princeton

What do you mean? Which want demonstrated interest? Well, considering they're all top universities, they all want their applicants to show a strong interest in going, but I'm guessing that the crazy ZOMG-I-<3-YOUR-COLLEGE fanatics at the top colleges like Princeton don't have much of an impression, since they see that sort of thing a lot. But I'm sure all of those on your list demand to see strong interest and knowledge in their university. (Tufts is notorious for this, too.)

Carnegie may care. All the other ones don't. Yale mentions on their website that they don't give preference to those who have visited over those who haven't, nor those who have visited 3 times over those who visited once. Schools like NU, UChic, Cornell, and Princeton, for sure won't give benefit to applicants who demonstrate interest and really can't because of the great diversity of applicants.
