Demonstrated Interest?

On its CollegeBoard profile, Rice lists "Level of applicant's interest" as an "Important admission factor." I'm on all the mailing lists, but it's doubtful I'll be able to make the trip from Northeast Ohio to Houston unless I end up getting accepted RD. Will this be held against me?

Thanks!

No, im sure they know how hard the trip is for many people. Maybe an interview will suffice eh? :)

@Biner_51: Fellow Ohioan here  I’m glad you are applying to Rice… it is a hidden gem among the top 20 universities, and we need more Ohioans to represent!

I don’t think it will hurt you if u don’t make a visit. I would send an email to the admissions rep telling them your situation and ask if there are any other ways to demonstrate interest.

The only way I demonstrated interest in Rice before I applied was I met with a Rice admissions rep that visited my high school. Other than that, I visited Rice, and Texas as well, for the first time in April after I received a decision.

Good to know slik nik, thanks!
