How important is demonstrated interest?

Very, just look at the Common Data Sheet.

mmm, and what exactly is meant by “demonstrated interest?”

(sorry, i’m REALLY new to all of this, bear with me :P)

basically can you prove your really want to go to Brown/ know about the school. Make sure your Why Brown? is good. All in all DEMONSTRATE you INTEREST in Brown

have MANY explicit reason why you want to attend Brown

Okay, so it doesn’t necessarily mean a campus visit, right? 'Cause I don’t have the means to travel that far. :-p Should I bother contacting a regional rep, or someone of the like?

I’m not positive, but I don’t think they track your visits? Emailing your regional rep is a good idea though! If you have legitimate questions that can’t be answered on the Brown website, ask him/her.

We don’t keep track of people who visit.

In your essays and interview, show that you know the school, that you’ve done your research, that you’re not applying to Brown just because it’s a prestigious university in the top 20. That’s how you demonstrate interest.
