Demonstrating Interest

I recently decided to apply to Bucknell, but haven’t visited or conducted an interview. I know that Bucknell values interest, so I was wondering how I could show interest in the school, assuming that visiting is out of the question.

Interviews are not offered nor are they part of the admissions process. If you can’t make it to campus, I would suggest reaching out to your local Bucknell rep with any questions you may have.

Alright, I will try that. Just for confirmation, I should contact them via email, correct? And approximately how many questions should I ask? Thank you for the response.

It’s not the quantity but the quality of questions. Make sure you don’t ask anything that is easily found on the website. It is very possible that you may not even have any questions when you go through the site. I would be more concerned with having well written thoughtful essays and a solid application.

How many questions should you ask? How many do you have? If you have none, you can just be genuine. Write and express your interest.

My question to you is, are you really interested or is this just another school to add to your list? If you are really interested, your questions should reflect why you are. Are you interested in a specific major? Is there something about the location or campus. Why didn’t you visit? That could be explained.

A bucknell adcom just told me that they dont keep track of interest

I stand by my response.

they definitely value interest. Why would they take a student who hasn’t visited the school over a student who has if they have similar grades, extracurriculars?

I definitely think my interest helped my application. I did a regular tour which I made sure they knew about and I did a Day in the Life where I actually talked to one professor and he seemed to really like me and I’m sure BU asked him about his experience with me. I tried to do all I could to make sure that I really wanted to go here; Accepted last month.
