Hi all, I am a tutor (full disclosure!) who signed up for the March test and was pushed back to the May administration. I called in and managed to get my test rescheduled to June because I couldn’t take the May test for logistical reasons. Lo and behold, I received an automated call this afternoon saying that I was now being considered not for the June test, but for the May one again. It feels that the same thing will happen with the June administration as with the March. Tutors and those over the high school age will not be allowed to take the March, June, and November tests, because those are not tests that will release the test afterwards and could potentially be used again on subsequent tests.
TL;DR Did anyone else get rejected from the June 2016 redesigned test administration?
Yes, the same thing has happened to a lot of people. They have changed their policy. Unless you can prove you are taking the test for admissions purposes, you cannot take the test on unreleased test dates. So they are obviously going to continue their horrific and terribly unfair practice of using recycled tests.
They send you a form to fill out after you are registered if you raise suspicion ( taken it too many times, you are too old, etc) . They want to know how many times you have taken the SAT or the Subject tests; they want the name of the college or the program that you want to apply to; you have to sign that you are not taking it for a test prep company, etc. Then you submit the form and based on their responses they will let you take it or they will reject you. If you are rejected they will either give you a refund or they will move you to a test date when the test is released.
The sad thing is that they are doing this to prevent cheating, yet, the March SAT is already out on the internet as Reuters reported. This new policy will stop nothing. The best way to fix this is for the Collegeboard to stop using recycled tests but they refuse to do so.
They’re not really doing it to stop cheating; they’re doing it as a fig leaf so they can say they’re taking steps to stop cheating while still carrying out the completely asinine policy of recycling tests.
^ I completely agree with you. Preventing adults from taking the test is not going to stop companies from gathering data. Companies can easily pay kids to take the test and report back what’s on the test.
