Denied by your safeties (or matches), accepted by your Reaches?

Well... I was accepted at Duke and Vassar, both of which I thought would be reaches for me (especially Duke). I was waitlisted at Emory, which kind of surprised me since I fell within the ranges and looked pretty competitive on the scattergrams. But hey, there may not be much of a difference in selectivity. I was just kind of surprised at how everything turned out.

My son was waitlisted at Vassar and Oberlin, his top choice matches, and accepted at Wesleyan, a reach.

Accepted to Penn. That was a reach for me because my SATs are below their average.

Denied by my other reach, Princeton though.

Denied by a match/safety, Northwestern.

Accepted by a match, Cornell U.

College admisisons fun. Getting into Penn made up for not getting Northwestern.

I got accepted to WashU, which was a total shock for me...but then rejected from UCLA, which I thought I had a fairly good chance at getting into (I was calling it a match or MAYBE a high match, but not a reach). My test score was above UCLA's 75th percentile, and my UC GPA was right at their average. However, I realize UCLA was especially selective this year, but I've been hearing comments about people getting rejected from WashU and how tough their admissions were this year too...so, I'm not sure what's up with that.

I got into Yale and UMich with $$$ but waitlisted by Columbia...
