Denied from College at the last moment

Recently I got denied from SFSU on July 25th which is about 3 weeks from school starting. I sent in my application on November 2012 and put G.P.A 2.63 and my SAT scores and they accepted me. They said the G.P.A requirement is 2.75 when I called them yesterday, but they still accepted me when i put 2.63 in November 2012. Also i did very good in my senior year so if A-G courses in senior year added, my G.P.A would be 2.75 if my senior year A-G courses counts. I did everything they required for me to attend SFSU. For example I took the placement tests which costed $60. I didn't pass the placement test like a lot of people and I had to do Early Start English. Also I signed up for orientation 2 weeks ago and I already had all my classes. At the last minute I checked my SFSU account and I got denied. They denied me at the last minute which means I cannot go to other colleges because its too late for me to attend community colleges. Also do colleges count A-G courses only from 10th to 12th grade? Please let me know what I can do. Thanks

You weren’t rejected, you were rescinded. They had already accepted you into their university, but you weren’t supposed to get in based upon their standards. So they rescinded you at the last minute.

I would still ask why you were rescinded, since they had already judged your previous scores. Also ask if they will recalculate to include senior year. As far as whether it’s 10-12, it isn’t at most schools; but a few select schools do. Although, I think a school like SFSU would just calculate from freshman year.

Edit: Ah, yes. And be sure to ask if there is anything that you can do to get yourself back in.

Don’t CSUS count 10th-12th? I saw the csu mentor calculator [CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU) and it says after grade 9. And yeah they already accepted me when I already sent in my G.P.A and they still accepted me. I already did everything and got all my classes.

Yeah, it’s basically the CSUs, UCs, UMs, Stanford, and a couple of others. It rarely makes much of a difference, especially since all of these schools will pay close attention to rank.

Well, to be really persnickety about it, toeknee wasn’t rescinded. The offer of admission was. Rescind means cancel or revoke or nullify. You can’t really do that to a person. (Except maybe in a metaphorical way, and even then, you really shouldn’t.)

But I agree that a phone call to admissions is in order to raise the questions teskeyben mentioned. Right away. Like, Monday morning.

The person was revoked admission to the university.

The person was revoked admission.

The person was revoked.

The person was rescinded.

The person was rescinded in the computer database.

The person was rescinded in a metaphysical unreality.

All about implied context. :)
