Denied.. Looking for Information to transfer in for the Spring Semester.

So even with a 4.1 GPA UMD found a way to deny me admission. (Not even Freshman Connection). So I have decided I will attend community college and try to transfer in. My sister a couple years ago only had to attend community college for a semester and then she got into UMD for the Spring.

With Maryland getting harder and harder to get into I was wondering would one semester at a community college still allow me the chance to transfer in? I am confident I will do very well at community college so I don’t think my grades will get in the way.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

I would also like to know the answer to this question!

@goterps25 @dankmeme I was also in the same situation last year as UMD denied me admission but I transferred by taking classes during summer and Fall. I took 14 credits ( to fulfill the math and English requirements) in Summer at local community college and 15 credits at UMBC during Fall semester. The required credits to apply is 12 but in my application I mentioned the credits I was taking at UMBC. I was given admission for Spring semester. I hope this helps!!!

Thanks! @justtellme18

Hi @justtellme18 if we only need 12 credits how come you took 29 credits? Do you have a better chance of getting in Spring semester if you did more than 12 credits? What math course did you take to fulfill the math requirement?

@concerned22 I applied with 14 credits, I just mentioned on my application that I am taking this many courses at UMBC. I did not have grades for UMBC courses because I was still taking them. I think this made my application look strong. I took 4 classes at community college, CALC 1, CALC2, ENGLISH, and ONE GENED and my GPA was 4.0

@justtellme18 Oh ok thanks for the info, also do they accept AP English exam scores, so that you can just fulfill the math requirement at community college?
