@GoldenRatio: You’re welcome!

I did not apply to many schools as we were unable to afford all the application fees in total and I have been denied admission at two of the three schools I applied to and wait listed at one. Is there anything I can do? I have won a few more awards and taken another standardized test; can I send in new information? Will they rethink a decision? I would enter in as a senior and the schools are Andover, Hotchkiss, and Deerfield and Deerfield was my top choice. Please help, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

@ReginaP, first, I can see that you’re new to CC, but make a new thread or post on a new, outstanding thread instead of resurrecting old ones.

Because you were denied at two, those two won’t rethink a decision until the next admissions go-round, if you choose to apply again. Your waitlist school might consider you, so call/email them and let them know of your desire to remain on the waitlist and of your new awards. You’ll most likely need to apply next year. Now is the time to begin talking to your current school or your high school at home about what next year looks like for you. You also need to begin thinking about applying next year. If I could tell you one thing to do differently next year, include a safety. Andover, Hotchkiss, and Deerfield are incredibly difficult to get into and pick and choose the best and the brightest from the US and the world. You need a safety net, whether it’s a less-selective boarding school, private day school, local public school, or online home school.

Aggghhhh

@mrnephew its ok… just breathe lol!

cry

@pdl100 thank you for your swift response. the problem is next year will be my senior and final year of high school so there is no next time for me to add more safety schools or implement your other helpful tips. do you know if they take transfer students? Is there any chance at all the schools that denied me would reconsider? is applying for summer classes worth the experience and boost on college applications? I was really excited to be around like-minded and ambitious students like myself more than anything else but since I most likely will not have the opportunity to experience one year there, would course credits from their summer courses impress my list of colleges, of which my top choices are very very selective. Again I truly appreciate your quick response as I try to outline my next steps after being denied.

@mrnephew I know…but we have to believe another opportunity is available to us because of the denials right?

That comment wasn’t anything to do with denials or anything… :)

If you look at my past posts, @needtoboard and @stargirl3 and probably most people know that I have something of a peeve against old, old threads popping back up. It was purely satirical.
