My son was accepted with the Alumni scholarship. We weren’t expecting to hear from them for another week or so, so this was a nice surprise! He did the Why Denison supplement and had an alumni interview. We will visit in a couple of weeks.
My daughter was happy to see her acceptance tonight with a $27,000 alumni scholarship.

Did the why Denison essay and interview and showed a lot of interest. I am disappointed oh well.
An exciting, stressful time of the year. I’m a current parent and have been thrilled with my kid’s Denison experience so can try to help answer questions students or parents might have.
Thanks @Midwestmomofboys ! So why did y’all pick Denison?
@Midwestmomofboys thank you! Can you tell us about the kids at Denison and also if the kids go off campus often.
@homejodi Same thing happened to me. I think it was yield.I think they rejected the top scorers.
@momofthree321 What my kid - and I – like about Denison is that there is really something for every kind of kid. As I’ve said in other posts, if you are a lax bro, there’s something for you, if you want to live on an organic farm and play bluegrass, there’s something for you. If you want to do research, sing acapella, play club sports, join greek life – it’s all there. The overall vibe is nice, tolerant, hard working kids. I think the numbers are about 20% first gen, about 20% low income population.
In terms of going off campus – kids walk “down the hill” all the time, for Whit’s custard, Village Coffee, to get toiletries at CVS etc. There is not a big bar scene in the village of Granville, most socializing is done on campus. Kids will go to Newark/Heath about 10-15 minutes away, for Target etc. Kids can also go to Easton/New Albany about 25 min away for mega-outdoor shopping mall, with an Apple store, Imax theater, national stores etc. Columbus airport is easy to get to which makes air travel in and out.
Academics have been challenging, faculty incredibly supportive, with great mentoring from faculty and staff. My athlete, musician, artist, non-greek life kid has flourished and thrived. I’m a huge fan!
Daughter accepted 27K
3.91UW, 32ACT, Lots of volunteering, avg EC’s no sports, interviewed last Spring.
i got my acceptance letter a couple of days ago too!! congrats to everyone who got in. I had never really considered Denison but now with the 22.4k alumni scholarship, im really considering it.
i’m an international student. 1480 SAT, had good recommendation letters, did the Why denison? essay. no interviews, no visits.
@Midwestmomofboys Thank you so much! My son is shy, loves to play guitar and is not too into sports. It does seem that there is an eclectic group of kids- different than in years past. We were not expecting an acceptance so now we are thinking of visiting on April 1.
What kind of activities is your son/daughter involved in? What does he/she love about the college? What does he/she not like so much? Was he/she debating between 1 or more schools? We’re going to have a hard choice in a few weeks, I think!
