Dental Care for an International Student

So this is slightly off topic, but I’m not sure where to ask.

I’m an international student and I was planning on (finally) getting braces this year, in the next month-ish. However, the braces would need to be on for over a year. Would the SHIP plan or any other health plan that meet Berkeley’s requirement cover check ups for braces?

It does not cover orthodontics, but then few dental plans do. I thought that orthodonture needed to be done through the same provider, as he/she has the records, x-rays, etc.
