I didnt get into UCLA but i want to know if people that want to pursue dentistry have an advantage if they attend a university with a dental school?

my choices are going to UCSD (which doesnt have a dental school) or going to a local jc and transferring to UCLA.

i really dont want to go to my local jc but if it will help me in the long run then i might force myself to do it...
:/

I don't think there's any advantage to doing that. In fact, for UCLA Medical School, most of the applicants weren't in UCLA for undergrad (most of them come for UCR, actually =P). I would say go to UCSD...it's not worth the risk of trying to transfer after a year and having to put up with a jc in the meanwhile. Pre-dentistry is almost the same as pre-med...your undergraduate institution should be the one that most fits you.

my friend told me of a guy who majored in japanese, but also completed the pre-med/pre-dentistry (i'm not sure how they differ, but whatev) requirements at the same time.
then he went to dentistry grad school xD
so you really don't need to go somewhere for undergrad that HAS a dental school because it has no affect on you whatsoever for those four years.
...you just need a GRAD school with a dental school ;)

there is no advantage or disadvantage. the medical/dental school is not affiliated with the undergraduate campus (in regards to admission). State residency may matter, but where you do ur undergrad degree doesn't.
