Which is harder to get into? I heard that it is slightly easier to get into dental school. Can you please explain to me everything, if it isnt too much of a hassle? Lets say, what should the average GPA of a student be to be competitive for medical school vs dental school? Is the DAT easier than the MCAT? please fill me in, thanks ahead!

It;s hard to compare numbers directly since there is a decent amount of self selection going on, but I;d say it’s comparably difficult to get into either

Depending on whose numbers you look at – quick search of google so I do not vouch that these numbers are anything other than Estimates.

Med School 17500 acceptances vs 40000 applications (44%). Ave GPA of accepted students 3.64. I think there are an additional 4000 Osteopathic school admission (and increasing) every year with an average GPA around 3.45. (Ave. MCAT 31 for Allopath school vs 26 for osteopathic in 2007).

Dental School 4000 admitted with 11600 applicants (34%). Ave GPA 3.54.

Vet. School – 2600 acceptances vs 5700 applicants. No information of GPA.

I can’t find any quick information of SAT scores.
Can the GPA be compared without knowing difficulty of pre-profess courses? No, but in general it seems that the kids take roughly the same overall courses and it seems the mix of majors is pretty similar overall.

I find it hard to compare the MCAT to DAT. Certain sections I suspect are pretty much the same, but the DAT has those spatial relationship sections that are unique. From taking some of the Practice Tests I didn’t notice a huge difference in difficulty.
