Deny-Review

I cannot believe I was denied. I have an ACT of 28, GPA of 3.8 out of 4.0, excellent ecs and essays. Champaign was my 2nd choice and I thought it was a "Good match" school for me. Thats what all the tests I took said too.

I heard that you can appeal the admissions decision by adding new information to the application or clearing up a misunderstanding that may have caused this. I think I am going to try it, because there is no way my reach is going to take me if what I thought my "good match" rejected me and I reallllly don't want to go to my safety school (which is why its my safety school) Has anyone else ever tried to appeal? I am surprised I didn't even get on the waiting list. So sad right now.

do appeal- there may have been some sort of misunderstanding regarding your application.
did you apply for business or comp.engineering?

and don't be sad, such things keep hapenning- don't lose heart!

Jawed Karim (found of YouTube) got rejected from CS department, but appealed and got accepted. Go ahead and appeal, its better than nothing.

I also got the same admission status after being originally deferred from LAS Econ. A few months ago I e-mailed an admissions officer to check if I was being considered for DGS as an alternate choice and she said yes. I only saw the deny from LAS econ, I don't think I was considered for DGS.

How can you appeal a decision?

Hi go to this website and it has the instructions on how to appeal:

College of Fine & Applied Arts: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

It's under Academic Appeals Process

They way that process was outlined sounds like it is referring to students that got into U of I, but not under the school of their choice. It also sounds like you have to do that stuff in person.
