I applied as a comp sci major, are there any department scholarships available to me? If so, do I have to do anything different to receive one or is it like the other scholarships that all come with your admission package within a few weeks?

I’m not sure if the admissions office will give you department scholarships but I found this page, which might be helpful. I’d look into each one because it doesn’t seem like all of them apply to incoming freshmen, and I think most of them have separate applications. I’m not sure, though. Good luck!

I believe you apply for departmental scholarships at the end of your sophomore year.

It really depends on the department. Historically, almost all CMNS scholarships have been for sophomores and higher…you have to apply during the spring of sophomore year, I believe, but you’ll have to check their site to make sure of when. (seems like it was the end of Feb a couple of years ago).

Other colleges/departments offer scholarships to incoming freshman, which are automatically considered…although usually the offer of those department scholarships come from 1 to 3 weeks after finding out you were admitted.

Good luck.
