DePaul, Augustana or Community College???

Hello, it is almost may 1st and I...argh!
Here is the thing, DePaul is my dream, I love the city, thats where I want to work. I have three options, 1. go to DePaul but jump into about 22,000 in loans! And I'm an english major so I'm not going to be making a lot of money. 2. go to Augustana, a small liberal arts college, its nice, but its not DePaul, I'm not set on going there...the city its in worries me and I feel like there won't be much to do there. But they really came through with finacial aid and I can afford it. 3. ECC its cheap and I can get my own appartment and all my gen eds out of the way and closer to chicago so I can still drop in. and eventrually transfer to DePaul

Is it worth it to transfer? Am I missing out? Or should I take the plunge that will make me happy at DePaul? Will augustana make me happy? I'm an artsy kid and hispanic, its a predominantly white school. I'm a theatre kid, will its random stage near Iowa make me as happy as having the chance to audition in Chicago? I don't know. If I could pick without the money issues I'd pick DePaul, no doubt...but I don't know. I know the moment I get to Augustana I will ask "how can I get to DePaul"?

Is that 22k of loans each year for DePaul? If so that is four times the amount that you can borrow on your own with Stafford, so you are correct. You can’t afford DePaul. Wave goodbye and move on.

I don’t know anything about the theater departments at Augie or ECC, but I have family in Iowa and Illinois, and I’ve spent tine in the Quad Cities. The area is not Chicago, but it does have a lot going on. Check the local tourism and events websites to learn about any community theater organizations you could work with. Also see about the summer repertory theater at the showboat just up river in Clinton.

DePaul is respected. Go to DePaul. Some of their graduates are teaching at top 20 universities like Northwestern.
