DePaul financial aid/scholarships???

so i visited DePaul yesterday and am absolutely set on going there. The big issue though is cost. can anyone comment on how good the aid/scholarships are?

27 ACT
3.2 gpa
top 50% class rank
top 50 catholic schools in the nation
exceptional skill at piano/saxophone
4 years of band (held leadership position/will continue into next year)/volunteer jazz ensemble for what will be 4 years

thanks!

I don't know if this helps- my daughter had a 29 ACT, and her unweighted GPA was about the same as yours. Her rank was in the top 15%. I would think it helps that you went to a catholic school- I believe that they have specific scholarships for graduates of catholic schools.

She got a merit scholarship for $9500.00. She ended up choosing another school that offered more merit money. She figured she could do grad school in Chicago or another city.

I really liked DePaul, so good luck! I think you will get in, but not sure what their cut off is for merit money.

D will be a freshman at DePaul in the fall. Her stats were similar to Vderon's D: 29 ACT, rank in the top 15% but with an unweighted GPA of 3.7. She too got $9500 per year in merit aid. I seem to recall that this particular type of merit aid is strictly tied to GPA and ACT score, but I'm afraid that I don't know what the cutoffs are.

There are a lot of other scholarships available, too, especially for those from Catholic schools. Have you looked at the financial aid section of the DePaul web site?

I thought the merit aid at DePaul was pretty good. My D loved DePaul, too, and can't wait to attend. Good luck!

If you have read any of my posts, I am in LOVE with DePaul.

A friend of mine got a 32 Composite ACT and recieved $9500, as well. I believe his GPA and extracurriculars were not the best.

I am finishing my junior year in high school in two weeks. With my stats, what kind of aid do you think I will get.

Black female
32 Composite ACT (first time, will retake later)
3.98 uw g.p.a.
Top 10 class rank (if AP Chem or APUSH doesn't drop my ranking)
Top 3%-4% of class
No skill at piano (even though my "Mary Had a Little Lamb is superb =D)
All-Conference in Track & Field
City Champ in Track & Field in two events (of 12 teams)
State Qualifier in Track & Field
sideline cheer, volunteer work etc

If it of any help, I am a DePaul Alumni. Even in the worst of times (mid 70's) I could always pick up a job in Chicago. The service jobs, clean type jobs are easy to get and easy to get to.

I am a graduate journalism student at Northwestern's Medill School of Journalism and I am writing about the credit crunch and student loans this summer. If you are attending DePaul in the Fall and would be willing to share your financial aid story with, please contact me. Thanks!
