I have two options for college right now. I plan on studying Finance and Marketing for business. I really want to go to Miami University, but I received little financial aid. However, Depaul is giving me a lot. Should I pay 40k a year for Miami or 26k for Depaul. Is graduating from Miami worth the money? Please help. Thanks.
Is this University of Miami, a private university in Florida, or Miami-Ohio, a public university in Ohio?
Can your family pay 40k out of pocket every year or would you need to take on loans? If loans, how much debt are we talking about there?
Miami-Ohio. I know the business school is significantly better there. I would need to take out about 20 to 25k in loans.I am just wondering if it is worth it? I know we will be able to pay it off.
Is it 20-25k in loans for each of your choices?
20-25k of federal (“stafford”/"perkins) loans, or would the 20-25 be in addition to federal loans - and I’m assuming 20-25 for all 4 years total, not per year, but just checking?
Are you admitted into Farmer business school (at Miami)?
Yes, I was admitted into the Farmer Business School. The 20-25k in loans would be the federal loans. Both of my parents are supportive of whatever decision I make, so this is all up to me.
20-25k total in federal loans for Farmer makes the choice difficult indeed.
Have you visited/spent an overnight?
I am between Iowa and Depaul and I just noticed that depaul has gpa requirements for each major. Finance looks the hardest, so I would just look at that if you haven’t already
Yeah, I am fine for Depaul. I have visited Miami already and love it. Going to visit Depaul this weekend.
The extra debt isn’t really worth it for ANY school. Visit Depaul with an open mind.
