DePaul

Hello, can any of you tell me whether a 2.65 GPA and a 21 ACT score will be enough to get accepted into DePaul? It is a bit low but I have heard of several people getting into DePaul with these numbers. My friend was asking and I wantd to let him know. Thanks.

What's your rank? Are you in any sports or clubs? Have you done any community service, or leadership stuff?

The class rank is in the bottom 25% because the high school is very competitive. The 50th percentile is a 3.2. Anyway, he is involved in 3 clubs (IM basketball, IM ping pong, and web club). He also worked for 8 months.

Depaul isn't too hard to get into even with your stats, so I'd say your in. But do include other schools just in case. This isn't like a state school where if you have a certain GPA/ACT your in, so you never know. Check out my website I made to help out students like you find good colleges despite your GPA. www.geocities.com/clearcollege

It's low according to the stats off their website...Average GPA-3.4, ACT mean composite-24.1 His EC's aren't real strong either, however, there's no harm in trying.

Here's the link to the '05 Freshman Profile: http://www.depaul.edu/about_DP/about_students.asp

I still feel both of them might be able to squeeze their way in though, here's the stats in a greater depth.

12% in top 10th of graduating class
43% in top quarter of graduating class
76% in top half of graduating class

20% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
4% had h.s. GPA between 2.0 and 2.49

ACT-22-27

So they seem to fit in around the bottom 25% mark. 71% acceptance rate, I'd say both have a shot. But as I said before, have others just in case. Look into state schools, because some schools like mine (Nebraska) just require a certain ACT score, and make sure you have enough credits.

any other opinions?

if you are looking in the chicagoland area there are 2 other big name school and one less known one that stand out in my mind. UIC might be a bit of a reach as well but worth a shot ( i know someone who got in with 2.8 & 21) Loyola-chicago might also be an option, and the app was free this year. If you really have your heart set on chicago also take a look at Northeastern Illinois University, it is one of the sure thing safety and it is not far from the downtown area. You also might want to look into other state schools. (dont know which state you are from)

Thanks. The state schools that my friend would look at would probably be Eastern IL, Western IL, Northern IL, and Southern IL since he can't get into U of I Champaign. He is mainly interested in schools closer to Chicago, though.
