DePauw or Butler? Can't decide!

My daughter is struggling with her decision - DePauw of Butler. She has been accepted at both as a music ed major, but may decide to switch to vocal performance. DePauw seems very nurturing with an excellent voice faculty, but D is disappointed that the yearly musical will be cut next year due to budget cuts. She is concerned about limited performance opportunities. Don't know as much about Butler, but being located close to a large metropolitan area, it seems like there may be more options for internships and student teaching opportunities. Lots of Eli Lilly financial backing, which is a plus in these challenging economic times. Know nothing about the voice faculty except that one instructor came across as unprofessional and somewhat rude. Could have just been having an off day perhaps. Three days left to decide - does anyone know if one is hands-down better than the other??? Thanks for any insight.

i don’t know anything about Butler, but I also applied and was accepted at DePauw. It’s a great school and the faculty is very friendly, kind, and caring. The school is definitely up and coming. I had a chance to have a private lesson with one of the voice teachers and he was very helpful and had worked all throughout Europe, so he was very credible. My major concern was the location. For vocal performance, it might not be ideal to be in the middle of an Indiana cornfield as opposed to being in a big metropolitan area. That being said, DePauw does offer great study abroad options, especially for musicians. Good luck with your decision!!
