DePauw or Loyola Chicago

i am trying to decide between these two and i am having a hard time deciding so i thought i would get some other peoples opinions. both schools gave me good financial aid so money isn't a problem, and they are both the same distance from home. at the moment i want to go pre-med, and i think i might want to major in psychology. i might also major in political science or economics.

Loyola
-great location, really liked the campus when i visited
-a bit worried about the quality of academics, at least outside of
-it has a med school
-coming home for a weekend is easy
-seems like the classes are pretty small, but some bigger core classes
-its a catholic jesuit school, which i am interested in and i am in catholic.

DePauw
-really like the small classes (none over 40)
-academically strong, especially if i decide to do something besides pre-med i think
-good greek scene, w
-the town isn't very good i have heard, it basically sounds a lot like the town i am coming from
-really liked the campus
-the administration seemed verys hands on and personable

Loyola having a med school should be irrelevant to your decision-making, even if you are premed. The Loyola med school campus is in Maywood, Illinois and it won’t have any impact on your undergraduate experience on the Loyola campus on the lakefront.

Why would you be concerned that Loyola wouldn’t be strong academically? Have you heard that it’s not?

Have you toured the science labs/depts?

have you had appts with the pre-med advisors on both campuses?

Which would provide a more “full campus experience”?

loyola having a med school could makes it easier to get into their med school. its not that i have heard loyola is not strong academically, but not as strong as depauw. i know rankings can be wierd, but on princeton review and us news they depauw seems to be quite a bit higher. i was not able to tour the science labs/depts but both schools have very new science buildings, and depauw has a whole building dedicated to biology. i’m not sure which would provide a more full campus experience. i think the experience at both would be good, its just loyola would be a big city experience and depauw more a typical small town college experience.
