Dependent on which shool you apply to?

Is everyone considered for the university the same, regardless of which major one chooses, or does one have a greater chance of getting into the university in general with an easier major choice?

^The talent-based majors evaluate you more on your talent/passion/essays/experience and less on your GPA/scores; however, your academic stats still have to go through the main undergrad admissions office and get approved there. For example, let’s say the Film major wanted to admit Student A because of their supplemental application. So, they transfer Student A over to the main undergrad office. The office looks at the stats…Student A got a 1850 on the SAT and has a 3.5 UW GPA. Usually, this student would likely be rejected. However, since the MAJOR wants him and it’s clear that he can at least meet the minimum standards for USC, he’d probably get in to the school at large. Now, if he had like…a 1600 SAT or below probably a 3.4? GPA, he’d probably be rejected even if the major wanted him. At least, that’s how I’ve heard it works. Anyone can correct me or confirm.

Now it doesn’t matter if you want to get into an easier major choice. Usually it matters for the most competitive and hardest majors to get into (usually the ones in SCA and Thornton.)

Hope that helps. :)

I would just apply the the major you want to get into. I have a friend that came to USC undeclared because they got rejected from the business school, then ended up transferring out because even a year later and after continuous trying, they were still rejected.

That makes sense. I was just wondering if my chances as an applicant to Annenberg would be better/worse that that of other schools.
Does anyone know how competitive Annenberg is? I know only 6% of students are there, but I am not sure how large the applicant pool is.
