deposit for A college but go to B for one year?

My friend can not make decision for going to A college in US or B college in UK
Both are top rank college. He is now thinking about go to B in UK and put deposit for A for next fall 2012.
Is this OK? Can she do this?

Most schools don’t have any problem with students deferring entrance for a year. However,
once your friend enrolls in college B, she will be considered a transfer by college A. In many cases, transfer students have to meet different requirements from freshman admits; a few schools do not accept transfers at all. So before your friend does this, she should check with college A to make sure that her plan is acceptable to them. Also, unless she has money to burn, she should make sure that the credits would transfer. UK undergraduate degrees are structured very different from most US degrees and there might be some problems in this area.

Most U.S.schools that allow a student to defer admissions for a year specifically state that the student can NOT enroll in college anywhere else during that deferral.
