Deposit Question

I sent my deposit like two days. I live in NYC and NYU still hasn't received my payment. What do I do? I'm scared that when they do receive it, it will be too late. Ugh, I'm so stressed out.

Try calling the admissions office to explain your situation. Good luck!

If you sent it by check, first of all, cancel the check. If you live in NYC and sent it to NYU and NYU hasn't gotten it in 2 days, it's probably lost. And this time, write a new check, put it in an envelope, and GO TO NYU YOURSELF and hand them the check. If it's due on may 1, then you can't take any chances with snailmail. It's probably going to cost you less money if you're in NYC to just give the deposit to NYU by person. ;)

how do you know if they recieved it?

Calm down. It's probably not lost. Do you know how many of these they have to go through now? They're processing everything, and probably have received yours, but just haven't processed it to be aware that they have it yet.

Don't cancel the check! It just had to be postmarked by May 1, not received by then. It took us about 10 days to receive the response after we sent ours 2-day air from California.

You could just call on Monday and see if they received it.

If they've been sending me housing app info (including a request for the $1000 housing deposit) as well as orientation info does that mean they recieved my deposit?

After sending the $500 deposit (I noticed the check has been cashed), we received information from the Dept. of Housing, an official letter from Admissions welcoming my daughter to NYU, and another letter from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). The letters also included information on Freshman Orientation and a blue sheet with important dates.

Ah, I got those too. But now I can't access my NYU home acount anymore. Says I'm ineligeable... sigh.

Oops, typo in the password. blushes

Thank you guys. I'm just worried I guess. Monday I'll call the NYU office and ask and if they haven't received it, why then I'll go there myself and write another check so then when the old one arrives they can cancel it.
I hope it works out. May 1st is still within the time frame correct?

I think you should still expect the worst (the check's lost because the idiot mailman dropped it, and they can't find it). Did you have the mail certified/did you put tracking on it?
