Deposit Refund if rejected?

Hello, well I sent my deposits for stony brook for the fall 2010 semester. I sent all my deposits, gotten my dorm, and orientation date. I just need to submit my final report card, but I think I failed AP Calc this year not because I slacked off but because I didnt get the material. I have maintained an 90+ average for my other class but calc is what worries. Im worried that I might be rejected because of this one class. Anyways if I unfortunately get rejected from stony would I get a refund of my deposits?

Also my parents are telling me now that they think that Queens College would be better for me because I would save myself money that I would be spending to dorm at Stony (about 7,000 a year). Is it too late to change my mind and go to Queens or do I have to go to Stony?

Thanks Alot.

The deposit is never refunded. But you certainly don’t have to go to SB if you would rather go to Queens.

Go to the CUNY school and save yourself the money and the hassle to dorm. You can definitely use the $7,000 for more essential uses other than staying in the bad dorms here at SB. The deposit won’t be refunded but it’s nowhere to what you will be paying in time and money if you come and dorm.

I don’t think the University would reconsider your acceptance over one score (especially in a class that’s above the minimum requirements). Call the Admissions office and find out.

thanks for all the info. but should I reconsider Queens college. I chose Stony because of its strength of it sciences and its a better ranking school but I also hear that your undergrad doesnt matter too much. Should I just save my 7000 a year and go to queens?

Queens is good for the sciences, but I think Staten Island or Hunter are a bit better for the sciences.
