I'm a junior in high school and currently enrolled in AP Biology. I decided to get a taste of the Biological Sciences part of the MCAT...... did the first two passages.....and missed 7/13..... i just gave up after that all depressed..... What can I do? I know that this is a horrible score and I want to get a 30+ on the MCAT...am I screwd?

....

you are only a junior in high school, people prepare for months for the MCAT

??

You still have at least 1 year of high school and 2 years of college ahead of you before you're ready to take the MCAT..

No offense to the threadstarter but I hate people like this...

Do you really need the security blanket of strangers telling you that "it's okay, you are only a junior in HS" to get on with your day? This should be common knowledge, if the MCAT was a HS test they would make you take it after you graduate HS.

MichEngGrad, thecalccobra is enrolled in AP Bio, which means there is a possibility he/she will not have to take bio 101/102 in college. If thecalccobra did not intend to concentrate on science while in college, this MCAT evaluation might make him/her want to reconsider.

thecalccobra, finish AP bio first, and see what score you get on the AP test. Like the others said, it's way too early to jump to conclusions. You still have a LOT to learn, and there's plenty of time to learn it. In college, even if you skip bio101, you can take advanced electives, like human or animal physiology (which helps a lot in med school).

I agree with MEG. I know it's in our nature as premeds to be neurotic but taking the MCAT in HS??!! You're halfway through BioAP (which at most high schools is NOT equivalent to Bio 101/102). Shouldn't you be taking the SAT's?

Am I the only person who didn't even look at the MCAT till 1/2 through my sophomore year of college?

That was a little earlier than me. I spent two months preparing.

As did I but I figured I should at least know what it's out of and how many questions are on the test ;) That was the extent of my curiosity.

i looked at the mcat for the first time a few weeks ago when my mcat class began. before that the only thing i knew was layout. don't worry about it that young. if i had i think by now i would have gone crazy

Go Party With Friends rather then Worrying about MCATs (Worry about the SATs and College admission).

Mr. Patel, like you, I'm a desi...so I can't help it...it's in our blood.

I think you're screwed.

<bites lip="" to="" stop="" from="" screaming="" obscenities="" at="" the="" screen="">...i'm a little stressed with an exam tomorrow, but this **** is ridiculous...</bites>

Blaming your race for neurotic behavior is a bad idea on so many levels.

holllyyy shyyyyiiitttt

:-O

drops head in disbelief

I think people need to tell some CC kids to CHILL OUTtttt..

True BDMike....I am desi as well, but I still party hard and am not worrying at all about Medical school or MCATs. I currently am enjoying my last year of high school. I still have about 10 years of worrying to come in my life...might as well enjoy while this fun lasts :).

People take the MCAT after taking multiple college-level science classes, and sometimes an MCAT prep course with a company such as Kaplan or Princeton Review. It is unreasonable to expect that you would do well on it at this stage of your education! I really don't think you have to worry about the MCAT at this point. Just do your best in AP Bio and your pre-med science classes and don't worry about it until you have to.

Yea I've been looking at the MCAT too, and it seems the physical sciences section is basically just HS physics + chem. The bio is a little more advanced, but then we have 2 years of college to learn the bio. The verbal is... verbal.

go get a life outside of school....seriously

yeah i have stopped studying for the MCAT but thats only because im trying to get into a 6/7 year med program that doesnt require MCAT.....and if not that then going back to pak and doing it from there in 5 years right out of high school.

...getting depressed over 7/13 on a practice MCAT your junior year of high school is, well, kinda of scary. Worry about it your sophomore/junior year of college. Hell I'm a sophomore in college and I haven't really started studying for it yet, I'm planning on taking it my junior year.

Just relax, take a deep breath, and get into a good college.
