Depressed to the Max---Please Help

hello,

ok iam going to try to make it short and sweet as i have heard about the worst news of my life and am just trying to get through this post without balling my eyes out.

i have been planning on transferring from my current school for about the longest time now. iam currently a freshman. last semester i recieved a B in bio and was planning on taking summer school to get my gpa high enough to transfer to a good school such as NYU. however, final grades for this semester have just been posted and i am SHOCKED to learn that i have somehow received a C in international relations 101. this is simply....ridicolous. i have gotten A's and one B in the entire semester in that class and am still coming to terms with the fact that that grade is posted on my transcript. honestly, iam hoping this is all a dream.

i have two questions,
1. is there a way that i can fight for my grade? i just found out my final grades an hour ago and have already e-mailed the TA...but is there any hope....
2. is there any chance left of transfering out?

i really appreciate all advise and help. iam just so discouraged right now as i have been planning on transfering after the first week of school. iam even taking classes at gerogetown next semester and interning with a congressmen just to get my resume strong in order to transfer. this just....iam devasted.....

Don’t worry just yet! This happened to me last semester, so I know your frustrations…

E-mailing the TA was a good start. You might want to start gathering up as much info as you can to show taht you’ve been getting A’s and B’s the whole semester and shouldn’t have a C. TA’s and Professor’s make mistakes, let’s hope in your case it is. It does happen, it happened to me so just get to the bottom of it and see what happens.

Good luck!!

learn to spell ridiculous then they might consider you.

^
Why would you feel the need to be a dick like that? Call it a psychological inquiry.

im stressed right now so i felt the need to lash out at some unsuspecting stranger to boost my ego and make me feel special.

I believe brahnema has successfully demonstrated his intellect and one-up’ed the OP.

0/2, brahnema.

haha oh dupes… your input is always appreciated. btw you should join SAE at cornell. you would fit in quite well.

Is there anyway you can call your TA or go see him/her in person? E-mail is great but since it is the end of the semester the TA might take a break and not answer e-mails. I know a couple of my professors in the past after final grades have been posted stopped answering e-mails. I am not sure about where you go to school but some schools have a deadline (mine included) for when a student can challenge a grade. So you should find out what the time frame for that is as well in case it comes to that.

Thank-you everytime and shwayzeee. :)

I have e-mailed the TA and starting Monday I will be taking summer school. Hopefully, if my TA doesn’t respond by then, I can go meet my professor? I am just so stressed out right now because I have been working so hard for a chance to get out of my current school and get into NYU. I cannot even believe that I received this grade in this class.

If all goes well, perhaps my grade will be changed to something that I am more derserving of. If not, do you guys think I can kiss any chance into getting into NYU goodbye? :(

And do professors usually give you chance to hear what you have to say? See, this professor is a bit of a jerk. God, I am so frustrated right now…

lkhan3, DONT EVER GIVE UP. Trust me, for the last two years you have no idea how many times i wanted to just quit and give up (COUNTLESS TIMES). But if you really want it, nothing should hold you back. Take this opportunity and try extra harder during summer school or whatever it is you do. If you quit now, you will never have a chance, but if you get over this hump, you will come out a stronger person.

My son emailed his professor about a grade he felt was totally unjustified and she changed it for him saying she made a mistake! If you are correct, you should be able to get the grade changed. He was also transferring and let the new school know that there was a mistake on the transcript and that he would send a new transcript with the correction as soon as it was available. It all worked out in the end.

Thank-you everyone that offered words of encouragement and advice. I talked with my professor and he said he had indeed made a mistake. Therefore, he said he would change the grade this week. Thanks again everyone! :)

It’s just your freshmen year, you still have sophomore year to transfer.
