Does anyone know what I can expect to receive in financial aid I have yet to receive mine and im getting worried I will not receive anything significant reading this post
-In state student
-3.7 gpa
-1350 SAT (Math and Reading)
-Undecided Major
-Combined Parents income 42k

i’m sorry but 120K is not average…especially coming from Tennessee where the cost of living is much lower than it is here in the northeast. There are students in PA who cannot afford Pitt’s tuition even with the state discount. Since your EFC was 19K and pitt does not guarantee to meet 100% of aid I am not surprised you didn’t get anything. I hope you get a better offer from the schools you are still waiting to hear from. good luck!

wonderwalll- I have friends with better stats than you, in-state, and received no merit aid.

However, you might receive some financial aid. my parents’ AGI is in the 50k, but I got no financial aid besides loans

Just got an email from an admissions counselor saying that the requirements this year for a merit scholarship was a 3.5 GPA, 1450 SAT, and top 5% of your class. If you did not meet all of these requirements, you were not considered for a merit scholarship.

AGI does not impact need based or merit aid. EFC is what is require for a need based FA “chance”. SAT/ACT, GPA, class standing, sex, URM status, residency and ECs are used to determine merit based FA.

PerfektCriminal–not completely true. One of my friends got a 2k scholarship with a 1390 sat. Although is GPA is around 3.95

Thanks soulreaver i received my financial aid award letter yesterday. 12,200 total aid only 2200 in grants the rest are all loans and no pell grant… does anyone know how the pell grant is awarded?

The pell grant is a federal grant that depends on your EFC

My EFC is 0 but did not get it, how is it calculated?
