Female/Asian(south asian)/Entering my senior year after this summer/first generation entering college

GPA: 85. I moved back to the United States in the middle of my freshmen year of high school after living abroad for all of middle school, which is why my gpa is so low. It took me a while to adjust. I didn't do great in 9th grade but brought up my average to higher than a 90 in both sophmore and junior year. my gpa will possibly go up to a 87 by the time I start applying to colleges

I'm interested in studying pediatrics and maybe a minor in political science. What are my chances of getting into stony brook? is my gpa too low? do I at least have a 60% chance of getting in

i’m also depressed about my stats!! btw whats 85 gpa in unweighted form?

You still have a pretty good chance to get in I know tons of people who got in there with those stats and some with worse.

Seriously? my cousin was accept there and she is the dumbest person!she didn’t have any ap Or honor!and was only in trigonometry 2 in senior year!you will probably Both make it!don’t worry and good luck

What are my chances of getting into University of Texas as a transfer with 30+ with a 3.5 liberal arts major(government) i was a student senator at my current university

I am not an expert on this but hopefully my opinion will be of help.

It is difficult to judge what an 85 would be for your school; however, admissions statistics in my school indicates you have would very likely be admitted into Stony Brook.

By looking only at the SAT scores of those admitted into Stony from my school, your current SAT score is quite low. Fortunately, if you do get 1900-1980 you will probably be accepted (I do not have much statistics for students of this SAT score, but I do believe this is a sufficient score for Stony).

I am unsure of which competitions you won those 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in but your participation in sports, debate, school newspaper, and volunteering is certainly commendable.

Considering your application, I am a bit shocked that you are concerned about your chances. I firmly believe that you would have a strong chance at being admitted into Stony. While you have not provided information on recommendation letters, I imagine your recommendations will be sufficient.

Basically, you have no reason to be depressed. I assure you you have more than 60% chance of being accepted.
