Dept/program Essay Prompt

<p>I am getting down to finishing my essays for the EA deadline, and one of the essays I can't really decide how to write is this one:</p>

<p>"Although you may not yet know what you want to major in, which department or program at MIT appeals to you and why?"</p>

<p>I was wondering if they mean that they want to hear about your interest in a particular subject ("I love chemistry because X, Y, Z"), or why you're interested in a particular department/program at MIT ("I want to join the Chemistry department because X, Y, Z").</p>

<p>Thoughts?</p>

<p>I wrote mine about both. You should write whatever you honestly feel–if there’s something special about chemistry to you, you could write about it; if there’s something special about chemistry at MIT, you could write about that too. :)</p>
