Hermitage RB Derrick Green commits to Michigan - Richmond Times-Dispatch: Football:

5 star RB Derrick Green #1 back in the nation by both Rivals (#6 overall player in the nation) and Scout (#5 overall).

This is THE guy needed to make this as good a recruiting class as any team in the nation. Even if Fitz is healthly, this guy may be the starter day 1. Big, big pickup. Rejoice.

You beat me to it! I wonder who will be our 28th and final recruit…if any.

No problem Alexandre! We can all enjoy this one together. MGOBLOG says “Now that Green’s recruitment is over, Michigan awaits the decision of TX TE Durham Smythe (currently planning to make his choice on signing day), and otherwise it appears they’ve wrapped up the 2013 class barring any late offers.”

I know you are looking for a WR, but we’ll be fine. Gallon is back and looked strong and so is Dileo; with Funchess and to be freshman Jake Butt (another stud) at TE, if we land this Smythe, we’ll be playing two tight ends plenty I’d assume. Looks like it may come down to Stanford, ND and Michigan for Smythe. But I like UM chances as he has visited both ND and Stanford and is visiting Michigan last (this coming Friday).

Another TE? We already have Funchess and now Butt. Why another? I suppose Hoke is looking to build a large front 7 (5 OL and 2 TE) formation. That could be interesting. We also have a strong and large FB (Shallman I think) in this class. Come to think of it, we definitely went with large skill players this year. Green is 6’0", 220 LBS, Smith 6’0", 210 LBS, Shallman 6’3", 250 LBS and Butt 6’6", 240 LBS.

Agreed that another TE seems a little odd. I would guess that they have made great headway on him and he is too good to pass on. He is a TX decommit and a 4 star.

At wideout, also don’t forget about to be Soph. Jehu Chesson; he’ll be a good one too. Mich has recruited three three stars at WR, Csont’e York, Jaron Dukes and Da’Mario Jones and a three star “Athlete” Reon Dawson - a 4.4 guy.

But, bottom line is Pro Style offense, here we come.

Way more important freshman-to-be than anyone else on this site, lol

One Correction: Jehu Chesson due to injury was redshirted this year. He will be a redshirt freshman for 2013, and a good one. Great attitude and has promising talent.

Smyth committed to Notre Dame today, not that huge of a deal. Good player but not a position of need. Looks like this class will stay at 27, with that number we still need 2 players to leave the program to get under the scholly limit.

And on Chesson/our WR situation: I think Darboh might be the better of the two next year. Chesson still lacks any sort of physicality and he’s pretty skinny. More years in the weight room will only do him good.

Good. I think Funchess and Butt are more than enough. Butt was rated higher than Smythe.

I am expecting a surprise recruit on signing day. Regardless, this has been an excellent class. #1 OL and #1 RB, top 5 QB and one of excellent DBs. We did not recruit any game changers at WR, DL or LB. Maybe next year.

We might as well hold on to this scholarship for next near. Unless there really is a player out there that Hoke and Co think can make a difference, we should save it for next year. Especially if the season goes well, we’ll have a lot of top guys wanting to play with us.

The rivals #1 rb list for the last 10 years includes Reggie Bush, Adrian Peterson, Marcus Lattimore, Jonathan Stewart, and Beanie Wells. I’ll take any of those for the next 4 years.

Well, I would not take Reggie Bush. He would land Michigan in some serious regulation hot water!
