Describe a day in the life of a Dartmouth Student

Ok. This question is very general, and directed to current Dartmouth students. I don't know if there may be a previous thread about this, but if so, here's another one.
Describe a "typical" day in the life of a Dartmouth student...

http://fc08.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/fs44/f/2009/091/0/8/Daily_Life_by_Ennokni.jpg

Replace the last two “work” bits with “pong” for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays and you’ve pretty much described the typical Dartmouth student’s life.

I’m being a bit facetious here, but honestly, I’m not sure what kind of answer you were expecting. The daily routine of college life is really mostly the same from place to place.

haha, sorry, I was a bit vague. The picture’s great though. :D

I wanted to know specifically how Dartmouth’s scheduling impacts day to day life. I do have a general idea of Dartmouth’s block schedule, but how do Dartmouth specific aspects of life (drill times, lecture times, dining hall opening times, etc) impact life? Do professors do unscheduled labs in the evenings?

I know that while there are, naturally, similarities between the daily lives of students from different colleges, I also know that Dartmouth is different in more ways that I can mention here.

I think I was inspired by blog posts entitled “A day in the life of…” that I read somewhere…
I guess I wanted to get a general idea of how long students spend in classes, studying, napping, what time most students wake up, what time they start “nightlife” i.e. partying, and things like that. While variations will exist, I think that the more people post, the more we can pick out common elements.

Maybe beer pong on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays will be one of them… :)

I think people take drill either at 5:20ish pm or at 7:45ish am.

I don’t know when dining halls open because I don’t care to be awake at those hours, and if I am, I’m doing last-minute homework, not eating breakfast. The main dining hall closes at 1am; the EW Snack Bar and Novack Caf

I know it depends on the classes, but how is the work outside of class (not homework in college…) load?

I’m guessing Chief56 means work study jobs or campus jobs…

S has drill at an ungodly hour every morning, then language class, then eats a meal (brunch?). The rest of the late morning-mid afternoon is taken up with more classes and practicing at the Hop. Then he has another meal in the early evening. Then he studies/reads/hangs out with people from his floor.

It appears that he stays up really late on Friday and Saturday–until like 4AM–and sleeps in until noon or 1, goes for “lunch,” etc. He says he sometimes goes to frats, but not most of the time. So the “plays pong 4 nights per week” thing does not include everyone.

I fully expect that he is not telling me everything he does. But I’m fairly non-judgemental when it comes to partying, so I don’t think he’s concealing too much. He apparently hasn’t started drinking…yet.

what’s drill?

@NoRegretz: -sigh- this question has been answered plenty of times. Search is your friend. :)

Try reading through this http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/dartmouth-college/702091-language-requirement-stick-familiar-start-fresh.html

It also depends on whether or not you are involved in a sport. My son has practices six days a week and then, during the season, travels on some weekends when his races are out of town. Time management can be a real challenge.

Any other Dartmouth students want to post a schedule of their “typical day?”

MWF: 8.45-1.30 class/lunch, 2-6 pretend to be productive, 6-10 work job/dinner/pretend to be productive/socialize, 10-2 actually be productive, 2.30 bed
TR: 10-2 class/lunch/pretend to be productive, 2-6 be productive, work job, socialize, meetings, etc. 6-11 club sports practices/work/dinner/meetings

Sat- DO THINGS OUTSIDE/WITH PEOPLE
Sun - 10-6 pretend to be productive, 6-8 dinner, 8-10 pretend to be productive, 10-2 actually be productive

of course, this is highly generalized … labs are sprinkled in there, as is

it changes based on what term it is and when in the term it is. Also in there is like hanging out/going out/having fun. it’s not scheduled.
