Design Major

How is the design major in UCD? I’ve tried looking around for more info and opinions, but haven’t found much.

Are the classes really tough, and take up a lot of time? Because, im hoping to take the pre-med req. classes for med school + major in design. Would it be something really tough to do?

Ionno, art is something i’ve loved since the beginning, and the medical profession is a profession i can see myself going into & loving.

yes that would be really tough to do. one of my good friends is a design major and instead of taking finals like the rest of us she’s usually up days on end working on a jacket or a dress or something. not that design by itself is extremely hard, but if you tried to take ochem and 2nd year design classes concurrently… you probably wouldn’t sleep. heh.
also, the classes are really impacted. davis is a good design school - there are plenty of people in design, and design alone, trying really hard. trying premed and design at the same time IS NOT a good idea, IMO. one is hard enough.
i don’t know if loving art is a good enough reason to go into design. it’s not an easy major by any means. what about a minor in art studio, or just taking some art studio classes?

Ya, a minor sounds like a better idea, now that I think about it - but would a minor still be hard with the med school pre-req’s?

it’ll probably be doable… if you end up in design classes that are purely design.

i’m a science major with a liberal arts minor (meaning, i write papers + do midterms). it’s been… hard, ngl. sleep becomes a precious commodity, and your social life disappears.

@Sutoroberrii: Ah, i see. But hey! Atleast you being a science major + liberal arts minor will pay off in the end.

I guess im gonna stick to just taking a science major…lol. I’ll leave the double major/minor/stuff to the pros.
