Design Management/MBA program @ Drexel

does anyone know anything or any more info about this program?
basically its you only need 5 years to get an MBA and Design Management degree...it's a rigorous course compared to other general classes.

Would we need a higher standard(gpa, sat..etc) to getinto this program?
is this program well known in america or in the world?
i wanna have a job related to fashion industry..thz why im interested in this program. but i want a 'normal college', not artsy one..soo yea, im wrondering if this would b a good choice?

BUMP! BUMP! bump.....:(

Hi,

My name is Brittany and I am a current student at Drexel. I am also an accelerated student in the BS/MBA program, which I see you are interested in. You are correct in saying the program is very rigorous-- I am taking a full load of classes every term. Although the work load isn't overwhelming, you have to be on top of your studies.

To get into the program, you may apply as a freshman or wait until you are at Drexel and apply internally between 90 and 120 credits (this is in your second/third year). As a freshman, you must have a combined score of 1300 SAT for admission. A high school GPA of 3.5 or greater is required for admission. Applicants must have graduated in the top 10% of the senior class. You must also meet the internal applicant requirements as follows: A cumulative Drexel undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 is required upon application. A cumulative Drexel undergraduate GPA of at least 3.2 is required throughout the program. A mandatory planning meeting with the BS/MBA advisor between 50 and 70 credits. Application should take place between 90 and 120 credits. Applicants must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) and achieve a minimum score of 550* before the end of term eleven (see the attached schedule) in order to be accepted to the graduate portion of the program. Two academic letters of reference are also due by the end of term eleven. (*Minimum GMAT score is set by Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business (LCB) and is subject to change.) Applicants currently registered as LCB five-year co-op students will be changed to the four-year co-op option upon acceptance into the program.

The program is very well known-- my co-op employers had heard of the program and were very impressed by my academic achievements and aspirations. Drexel offers some of the most competitive MBA programs in the nation and are ranked very favorably.

As far as a job in the fashion industry, with the BS/MBA program, you have the opportunity to have one co-op experience. One of my friends actually had her co-op abroad in France and was offered full-time employment upon graduation.

In regards to your "normal" experience, Drexel's undergraduate expereicne-- regardless of major-- is very normal. You can really mold your experience into what you are looking for. For instance, if you wanted the artsy experience, you could choose to reside in the College of Media Arts and Design Living/Learning Community and actually live with the people you go to class with. Furthermore, you could join the seemingly endless clubs and organizations around campus involved in the arts. Or, you could live in the Honors Living/Learning Community or traditional style housing and live with people from every major. Basically, you can be as involved in your major as you want. If you want to separate your CoMAD life from your social life, that's definitely an option-- it just depends on what you're looking for.

I hope this helps. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. If you would like more information about the specifics of the BS/MBA option, the academic advisor for this program is Barbara Lane; her contact information is below.

I hope to see you at Drexel in the future,
