Design portfolio question

As a hobby and a job, I'm a web designer where I'm my own boss. This is something I plan to mention under ECs.

Would it be a good idea to get a book/portfolio of samples of my work printed to send to admissions? Is something like this even necessary?

I would say... yes.

mind if i see something you've done (I do some design myself)

Hey I'm interested in this too. It frustrates me that I spend so much time webdesigning but don't really have a way to put that on my application (no classes or anything).

I would be bsing if I told you whether I thought a portfolio would be a good idea or not.

yes. it helped me get into the Business school at Indiana and in Emory.

I had an expanded resume and then a 2 page design portfolio (on paper)

i think it helped me put some legitimacy into my essays on my passion for webdesign.

i can send you mine if you send me your emails.
But don't use my work!! =)

Some schools really want to see these things and do consider them. The common app has an art supplement form. Some schools discuss supplemental materials on their websites. It doesn't seem to me that it would hurt to send it. You can always check with admissions first.
