Would it be dangerous to bring things like Chloe and Fendi purses, Moschino dresses, Miu Miu shoes, Marc Jacobs and Dolce & Gabanna clothes, etc. with me to the dorm? I'm afraid that people might steal some of my designer clothes and accessories. Does this ever happen? Because I do want to bring my nice clothes, but not if I have to worry about them being stolen. Would they be stolen in the dorms or would it be best to leave them at home?

no offense but i really don't think people care what clothes you bring to college. if i saw the clothes i'd probably just keep laughing to myself about the amount of money wasted on them. furthermore, as long as you lock your door, nobodys going to be stealing your clothing.

some friends of mine got their underwear stolen out of the laundry room freshman year as some prank.. haha

Yeah just lock your door and you'll be okay.

this is somebody who made a new name just for this question.

No, I've replied to another thread before this. But thanks, I'll keep my door locked. I'm going to college to get a business major and art minor, then I'm going to Parson's to get a fashion design degree because I am very artistic and very interested in clothes. I just prefer to buy designer clothes over cheap ones, just because that's what I like. Fashion is kind of my life, like cars are some boys' lives. I didn't mean to offend anyone by spending a lot on clothes, but fashion is just my biggest hobby, that's all. Well, thanks everyone

i get your fashion fixation - definitely lock your doors and be careful not to leave them around the laundry room...just keep tabs on everything and if it starts to reappear in friends' closets, it's time for the clothes to go home (and time for you to make some new friends!)

More so if they start to reappear on friends.

If you clothes do get stolen, you can also buy them off Ebay for really cheap price.....

I think people will $200 jeans are better than people with $20 jeans.....

Consider human nature. Things will get stolen if you leave them around. And if you are too overtly cautious, they will get stolen because it will become a challenge to some. I'd just take a few items to start with, if you can stand to dress like the average college student.

you won't be the first person bringing designer clothing and you won't be the last. It is not that serious as most people in NYC will not care what you are wearing because you wont' be at a loss for seeing people wearing labels.

worse case scenario, you can always go out on 7th ave or canal street and get some fakes :)

I've had a lot of problems with kids stealing my clothes at camp...random, yeah...and these were rich kids' camps, too (like surf camp, etc. - in fact, usually it's the rich kids who are the little kleptomaniacs). So I wouldn't assume that they'd be totally safe just lying out on your bunk bed or at the laundary or whatever, because people don't mature that much in two years. I think generally they'll be ok in your drawers or closet (we didn't have those), if you make sure to lock your room door. If something actually gets stolen, then you can move on to padlocking everything! But really, as long as your roommate isn't some crazy thieving fool, I wouldn't stress about it.

Karen??????

UVa girls wear them all the time, i don't think it'd be a big problem.

just lock your doors and you'll be fine. o and watch out when you do laudry. if cheap clothes and underwear (yes gross, but it happens) can get stolen from the dryers, then so can your mark jacobs jeans, or whatever else you throw in the laundry
