Uh, both companies consistently release new stuff. I think what Hairy Lemon means is to buy not now, but later in the summer to maximize how future-proof the PC will be.

ghost has a good idea. i would do that if i were you, being is that you have that itch. just go through the first month or quarter waiting, and if its still feasible to you to buy such a machine, than i guess there’s no stopping you

Yeah, I got the idea because I DESPERATELY want a sportbike (probably kawasaki ZX 6r or something if you were wondering ) but that would mean working 6hrs a day all summer in order to afford it… I’m still going to work, but I’m going to see how the transportation and money situations work out when I get there so I don’t end up begging my parents for money. Mainly, waiting before you buy something that is not an absolute necesity in college is usually the best idea, because it allows you to evaluate your decision. Plus, money in the bank makes interest, even if it is just a few cents :)

Thanks for all the info guys, srry for the late reply. I agree with ghost’s idea, I should just wait a couple weeks to see if it is realistically possible. If I built the entire thing this summer, and I decided not to bring it, then it would be sitting at my parent’s house in my room and god knows what would happen to it (I have a little brother). I guess I could just build it at school, because Best Buy is just up the street. I’ll also have my PS3 as something to hold my craving until I decide what’s best. BTW, If I wanted to order some parts online (from tigerdirect/newegg) where would they be shipped to?

I’m fairly certain to whatever housing building you choose. Most would notify you that you had a package (through your RA) and then you’d have to sign and confirm ID to pick up…

so. . . . I had to ask, lol.

What games do you play hotrokr?

Computer gaming is very important when you’re at a college near the beach.

k, i honestly cant tell if that is sarcasm or not django712 :D

op must be water-phobic.

:o

I was being sarcastic.

i ride a 06 cbr600rr sportbikes are the best…altho i am 21, not 18… i wouldnt advise getting a 600 for your first bike, not an inline four for that matter. too unforgiving.

anyhow, i hope op takes the waiting approach.

yeah, it looks like they will, seems like a sensible person.

get one ! parking is free for motorcycles (i think). although i wouldn’t get a 600 for my first bike, they are fast… like 0-60 in 2.9 seconds fast. honestly it’s a pain in the ass to ride around town in a supersport, especially if you are can’t get both feet down flat (me) and think about insurance as well, I had a ninja 250 for my first bike and was paying 300 a year, now I’m (my parents) paying 1300 a year on my GSXR600. I’m thinking of getting something smaller, like a dual sport drz400 type or whatever.

The waiting idea is not a bad one, although I have to say we should really lay off the lifestyle advice. Everyone ought to be doing whatever they enjoy and is responsible for managing their own lives. It’s elitest to call out someone else’s hobbies as unproductive and wasteful; I don’t find others hobbies particularly interesting, but I don’t go telling them not to do it. I think if the OP gives in to just doing what’s considered socially acceptable, it’ll be just like high school peer pressure all over again.

Well said, WCF, well said…

And as to the 250, really? All the reaserch I’ve done tells me that 250’s are NOT worth the money… literally spend 2-3 months on it then upgrade? That’s why I’ve been thinking to get a 600… plus, they’re really not that much more, only about 1000 more for an extra year to 2 years of use…
I feel bad for continuing this nonacademic conversation on a thread that actally started for help…

^ eh threads dead anyways.

250s are way worth it because you can buy and sell for the same amount, and do lots of learning in between.

i kinda thought that at first, but steered away from it when I started reading the specs for a ZX-14R hehe
I tried to reconcile the boost to a 600 with me riding a bycicle EVERYWHERE since 6th grade…

love how this thread about computers got derailed to motorcycles lol :P

Exactly: 2 things every guy should love :)

all i’m saying is 90% of the time the most you will ride in one trip will probably be 10 miles to downtown SB (unless you go home on the weekend), and supersports are just not practical for that. It’s like driving a lambo to work, they are both fast and pretty to look at but not much in comfort, useable power or gas milage (35 ish for me). 600’s have power in the top end which is why you will see for ex. 100hp @ 14k rpm, I’d rather get a v-twin for the torque and more comfortable upright seating position. supersports were really made for the track and canyons but admittedly they look good :p
