Bringing both would be terribly unnecessary unless you're super hardcore and absolutely need both.

I'm a huge laptop proponent because I just think they're much more convenient, but I know that others prefer Desktops. Your laptop won't be stolen if you're careful with it, and the campus police department offers STOP plating for laptops (http://www.ucpd.ucla.edu/ucpd/services_crimeprev_stop.html).

the link is faulty :(

Oh, you're back!

EDIT: Beat me to it.

Can you clarify a bit of what STOP is?
I'm still kind of lost.

ah, that works. :)

acidicfire,

As long as you're smart with your computer, the odds of it being stolen are slim.

However, that does require that you be smart. That's the hard part.

http://www.stoptheft.com/site/solutions_theft_prevention.php This explains it better.

would these STOP stickers reduce resale value on, say, ebay?

I'd imagine so. Most people aren't willing to buy something if it's clearly stolen. But then again, lots of people suck. So who knows.

So wouldn't this hurt you too if you try to resell it?

As far as I can tell, no. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to having an additional measure of protection on his system. But people can be silly, I suppose.

nikkei,

Well you don't exactly take off the sticker when you sell it...

^

I see now.
I thought the sticker was unqiue to the owner of the mobile equipment.

Yeah, its almost as good as selling car with a boot on it. It'll never get stolen!
