Desperate for Advice on SAT

I am very desperate. I have a 93 unweighted gpa, 6 honor's, and 2 AP's, however, my SAT is miserable at 1560. I am a junior and took the SAT's for the first time in february. I do not think that I will be able to get into any good schools (like NYU). I also have sports like baseball and track on my record. I am a 4 year immigrant and will not be able to get my citizenship in US until I am a freshman in college. Do you guys think that I will be able to make it? I can't take this pressure anymore. I think that I might end up in the community college. I have busted my ass over my grades and all for nothing. This is not something that I would find worth living for. Please respond. Thank you for your attention.

Why do you have a 1560? What subjects do you have bad scores on?

Hey buddy, 1560 out of 2400 right? Not out of 1600? :-P

Don't worry, I'm in a pretty sticky position as well. Your GPA and other transcript criteria is great. The only thing you have to worry about is your SAT, so chill.

What are your subject scores from the SAT? Also, did you study at all?

And you can get into good schools. There are MANY great schools out there; your only options are not just NYU or community college.

Let me know your subject information and your study habits and I would be glad to devise a study plan for you.

Also, maybe consider taking the ACT test instead of the SAT; most if not all schools accept both tests, and some students do better on the ACT than the SAT.

aboy~ don't give up!!! your immigrant status will help. and as CDN says, try the ACT, too. some schools look MORE at GPA and LESS at SATs. (NYU not being one of them.) are your low scores due to language, perhaps? BE SURE TO WRITE THIS INTO YOUR APPS!!! good luck!

Yea, Take that test again, with a lot of help and advice from CC. If you get better, that great- if not, try the act.
