DESPERATE for Harvard!!! (Chance me!)

Okay, I'm not "desperate", but I thought the title would attract posts ; )

Anyway could you please chance me for Harvard? Thank you!!!

Sex:F

School: Private

GPA: 97 (We don't do unweighted and GPAs are out of 100)

SAT: 2330 (M-780, CR-780, W-770)

SATII: 740-MathI (just retook in October, don't know new score yet), 720-Biology, 710-Spanish, (also took MathII in October, don't know score yet)

AP's: Junior year took BC Calc (5), Spanish (5), and EnglishLit (5), this year I'm taking Stat, Physics, and CompSci NOTE: my school offers VERY few APs because we're an extremely rigorous school and technically all of our classes are "at the honors level".....at least that's what they tell us. Nonetheless, when I graduate I will have taken on the most rigorous 4-year courseload of anyone in the senior class....literally.*

Recs: one from English teacher and one from Calc teacher, both of which I think will be outstanding, also an additional one from CompSci teacher because I'm applying to programs in electrical engineering and computer science, also one from my professor at Columbia University (I did the Program for High School Students this summer) in which he said I was one of the brightest high school students he had ever worked with

Essays: both my English teacher and college counselor said my main essay was extremely "evocative, powerful, and elegantly written"....it was about how my father left when I was nine and the experience of growing up as the child of a single mother

ECs: Varsity Dance Company, Editor in Chief of school newspaper, President of three community service clubs, two of which I founded myself. Also I've worked part-time year-round since I was 14 at my family's small business, and the summer before junior year I volunteered as assistant director of a dance camp at my local YMCA

If you could let me know my chances at Harvard but also MIT, Georgetown, Yale, and Princeton, that would be awesome!!! THANKS!!!

Shoot! Forgot to mention I'm also a National Merit Semifinalist (Finalist decisions haven't come out yet), a Maryland Distinguished Scholar, and AP Scholar, have made Honor Roll all four years, and was inducted into the Cum Laude Society as a junior. Thanks again, and PLEASE post!!! : ) : )

Bump Bump Bump

PLEASE respond! The fact that 12 people have viewed and no one has posted makes me think that no one wants to break the news that I don't have a shot. Good or bad; just post, please! : )

You're qualified, but you really can't tell with HYPM. I'd say in at Georgetown though.

Thanks for the post! Anyone else???

You really *do * come across as being desperate... I'd say 30-70 at Harvard.

Test scores/GPA are ok, ap scores don't matter, however, ECs are fairly generic.
I'd say 20-80 at Harvard, though better chances at say, MIT. Not sure why you want to go to Georgetown for engineering? (probably in there)

I'd say in at Georgetown.
The others are so strange when it comes to acceptances, you just never know...

HYPS is a reach for everyone.

You are really qualified but everyone who applies those schools are also like you.I think you should focus and write good essays and try these schools.you DO have a chance.Good luck!

yeah, you could mix bill gates, michael jordan, stephen colbert, and albert einstein and any other uniquely talented people and that person might not get into Harvard.

You can't really tell from what you've given us. It's a gamble; you're tossing everything into the pot. Being President of three community service clubs might make them skeptical of your commitment to each one. Commitment to one is better; why do you need three community service clubs? Either way, you're helping the community.

However, your interest in engineering is beneficial because schools are looking for females in these majors.

By the way, what private school?

You seem very qualified for Harvard, but I agree, a little desperate. Like Masterus said, was three community service clubs necessary? And founding two of them yourself? It seems almost desperate, as in, "I need to appear like I'm saving the world to go to Harvard."

But besides that, you have a good shot. HYPS is unprectable, so you never know. Georgetown is a match. Good luck in college!

You have an amazing shot everywhere but to the Ivy's, it's always a crap-shoot.

In at Georgetown easily. Perhaps you'll make one out of HYPM, but it's hard to tell. I agree with the others that your ECs hinder you a bit. 25% chance at each of HYPM; this really comes down to how you present yourself to adcomms. Good luck. Chance me back? <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/578697-stellar-lackluster-you-decide.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/578697-stellar-lackluster-you-decide.html</a></p>

Your worst is your EC. Your looking at the best school(s) in the country. Everything has to be perfect.

But, with Harvard, one never knows.

Thanks for comments everyone! And I know it's hard to believe, but I truly am VERY committed to all three of the community service clubs I'm the leader of (in addition to the school newspaper). The two that I founded were causes that I felt were underrepresented in my school/local community and that I thought needed to take center stage in terms of direct service and giving back. Just as an example of my commitment, the club I founded last year raised more funds from September to June than any other student organization at my school. Again, thanks for the posts...anyone else have any thoughts???

You look really competetive. You are mad involved in your ECs. They will understand that your school didnt have many APs so dont worry about that. You can never be sure w/ harvard, unless u have a rich/famous daddy, but you look like you have a great shot. Chance me at <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/572810-my-grades-suck.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/572810-my-grades-suck.html</a></p>

In that case, is there any way you could possibly describe your committment to the service clubs/founding them? Maybe in your essay?

Bump 10char
