Desperate for my Chances!!! Please Give Your Input

This is like the 3rd time I've tried asking for chances b/c my first 2 threads have collected dust. I'll shorten my list this time.

What are my chances for these schools?:
Cornell
NYU
Fordham
Wagner
Pace

Stats:
White male from one of the Top Catholic High Schools in NYC.
SAT: M: 710 / CR: 640 / WR: 680 (2030 total)
GPA: 96.49 weighted
Rank: 21/278
APs: Euro: 3 / US: 3 / Eng Lang: 3

EC's and awards:

Math Team
Anime Club
Billards Club
NHS
Scholars Program (top academic group at my school)
Honor Roll every semester
Perfect Attendance thru high school
Math 10 Honors Award for 10th grade
Magna Cum Laude Award for Nat'l Latin Test 9th grade
(There is other stuff that I'm leaving out so I can keep this post as concise as possible).

Over 300 of Volunteer work as a Little League Baseball Coach and a camp Counselor (the counselor who worked w/me was accepted into Cornell w/similar SAT scores).

I am sooooo desperate for a response. I have no idea what my chances are, especially since my SAT improved (1940 to 2030).
I'm practically begging for the input I have not yet received.

Please, any help will be appreciated.

Cornell-- huge reach
NYU--slight reach-reach
Fordham-- high safety-low match

Don't know anything about the other two schools

I'm surprised that you think of NYU as a reach. I went to the open house and their middle 50% range for the new SAT was 1940 - 2140. If this is the case, I'm right around the average. I'm also not applying to Stern, which is super-selective. I'm applying to Steinhardt w/the hopes of becoming a teacher some day. Does this affect my chances at all?

The SAT range you are speaking of is probably the range for the enrolled students, that is, those who chose to attend NYU over their other schools. The range for accepted students is probably higher, since many apply to NYU but attend better schools. For the sake of argument, we'll say you're in the 45th percentile (pretty accurate guess given the stats you gave me)...Your EC's are not spectacular (no offense or anything) so we'll say you are around the 40th percentile overall of ENROLLED students. Further assume that the SAT range for ACCEPTED students is around 30-50 points higher than that of the ENROLLED students. We will disregard the ECs of the ACCEPTED students. With some fuzzy calculations that puts you around the 30-35th percentile of students who applied (in terms of SAT and ECs combined as a gauge of how high caliber a student you are. Thus, your chances are around 30-35% there. A match would be characterized by chances over 50% or so. Hence my designation of this school as a slight reach(40-45% chances) to reach (20-30% chances).

Nyu is definitely not a reach
Its a solid match
maybe even lower
his gpa is like a 3.85 which is like really good
um
and sat is like 50th percentile ish
and ec's are decent
so he should be a good match
and will easily be GSP'ed if not accepted.

And
Im pretty sure steinhardt is one of the harder nyu schools to get into
cause i think thats were the music majors are and i heard it's kinda selective.

Im not as sure though about teaching and education majors, but i would guess that thats easier than a music major cause you have to audition to be in their music program.

actually wait
no ur probably light a high match cause your ap tests are bad

and i guarantee u that its impossible to get accepted if u have no sat2's

AND
forham and pace are safties

NYU is a top 40 school...it is not a match for someone with a 1350, bad AP scores, and lackluster ECs. He has a chance to get in, but it is not a great one. I'd say around 30-35% (read my last post for the full breakdown of WHY NYU is NOT a match).

Keep in mind, that SAT score range includes Stern students, who typically score in the 2100+ range. I'm sure w/out them, the overall SAT range would be slightly lower. I also know that the acceptance rate for NYU is above 30% meaning that they do take slightly more than 3 out of every 10 applicants.
I am right in NYU's range (maybe 45th percentile as you said) and I feel that it is safe to assume that the average applicant to NYU does not have a 2030 SAT, otherwise the acceptance rate would be around 45 - 50%. I mean, I know several people applying to NYU w/1700s. I'm sure there are more people like this out there. You can pretty much take these people out of the equation. If you take all of these factors into consideration, I think my chances are more like 50%.

I'm taking SATIIs this weekend (U.S. History and MathIC). so that problem is eliminated.

Hepstar, Fordham, Wagner and Pace are definites, Cornell is a slight reach only because their acceptance rate is crazy, I say NYU is in your range clearly but on your next SAT try to lift up you SAT to a 1400 somewhat and then your a Stern Student in my eyes 90%

Also try to get 700+ on your SAT II's

You are too optimistic: Here are the stats straight from NYU's website for the class of 2010:

SAT Score Range (middle 50%): 1310 – 1440
Ranked in Top 10% of High School Class: 73%

Your SAT: 1350
Your %: ~top 9

I maintain that you have a shot, but it is not a great one. NYU is still a slight reach-reach with your lackluster ECs and test scores near the 40th percentile of ENROLLED students (your situation looks even less promising if you look at the SAT and class rank of APPLIED students).

I'm taking the SAT again in December and I think I have a shot of raising it to a 2100. As I said before, I didn't mention all of my EC's, like saturday history club, College of Staten Island discovery program, math tutor, etc. I am also a pretty talented naturalist. The camp that I volunteer in is a nature camp and I guide the kids through all of the local greenspaces. I also had an uncle who went to NYU. My class rank is also misleading b/c there are kids above me who haven't taken one AP or Honors class in high school. Pretty much all of my classes have been Honors and by the time I graduate, I will have taken 6 APs, as well as some other college-level classes. Does any of this increase my chances for NYU?

(By the way, I know my AP scores are bad, so I don't plan on submitting them).

pace- safety/target
fordham- target
nyu- target/reach
cornell- reach

good luck!
