desperate help at chances of {Babson/Lehigh/Rutgers/TCNJ/GW/Maryland}

Yeah I won't sit here and lie to you that Babson is not a very wealthy and say "ritzy" place. The students are mostly New Englanders who are very wealthy or International people where the wealth level hits extremes. Kids drive $100K+ cars. Sometimes if need be they have the nice weather porsche and the X5 SUV for the winter that means two cars.

However, the school is very strong academically and has a very solid reputation within New England, nationally (in the U.S.) and Internationally.

Your stats seem pretty good but Cornell seems to be a reach and NYU Stern is probably harder due to your location.

I'd say if your not feeling comfortable with the situation at Babson then look at Bentley. Slightly larger student body. Located in a suburb that is just outside of Boston as well. It is also a business specialty school that is perhaps a tad easier to get into but on the rise and has its own charm.

Also consider Boston University if you like the city life as their business program is quite strong as well.

Check out American and GW in Washington D.C. both have strong political atmospheres but business programs nonetheless. I think you know which one I prefer based on my previous posts.

Lehigh: It is a good school however that "good" does not get associated with every department. Unfortunately business is not one of their strong points and the rankings will indicate that but Lehigh is more for engineers or the artsy type (history, literature etc...)

So you have a good set of schools in Bentley, Babson, Boston University, American, George Washington, Maryland and the two Jersey schools.

I wouldn't expect an acceptance from all of them but I would say you have a solid chance at Bentley, Rutgers, American and TCNJ. Boston University, George Washington, Babson and Maryland are going to be a little tougher but I wouldn't be surprised if you got into a few of those as well.

Good luck

I am so offended! GW is a great school! It's on a completely different level from American. C'est mon avis.

alright..thanks a bunch..i dont think im applying to bentley, cuz i basically never heard of it, and its a little too late to get to know it well.

not at all it is very similar to Babson. As I pointed out earlier it is slightly larger, located just outside of Boston and is a business specialty school. I would highly reccomend looking at it. Their Early Action deadline is December 1, 2004 so you can still apply Early Action. I would say not applying to Bentley when you are applying to Babson and are unsnure of it would be a huge mistake. They are almost idenitical schools with identical reputations, locations etc.. You will find that almost everyone who applies to one will apply to the other. You still have time and if you are that unsure about one school and their is almost an identical school that fits your criteria it would be in your best interest to apply their especially when their EA deadline is December 1st.

Hope this helps

I'd say apply to bentley then ED if you are sure you want business. It is a great school and a great alternative if you don't feel comfortable about Babson.

hmm i never heard of bently, i will visit babson n gw soon

anyone else help at my chances? please

you know your chances we already gave them to you!

yes you did..thanks..
to the others..advice would be greatly appreiciated

here I've been on this board for very long take this advice, get your applications in and hopefully get accepted. This is how your chances will be:

BU - decent. In at General Studies I don't know about SMG though

Babson - should be in. Their statistics do not reflect a strong applicant pool that should help you

Bentley - you will be in. If you haven't heard of Bentley and you are planning on studying business you definetely will know of it soon. If you aren't comfortable with Babson Bentley is a great alternative. Easier to get into, larges student body, relatively same location and also a business specialty school

Lehigh - good for engineering. Business is not well regarded Unfortunately. Very big party school and not located in a city. Based on what you have stated as your preferences this would not be the best fit location wise or business wise either

Rutgers - good school. Close to NJ and very good pharmacy program if medicine is your interest at some point or you think it might be go to Rutgers pharmacy it is perhaps the best there is for pharmacy.

TCNJ - good school. You should be in that should be your safety.

American & GW - Washington D.C. located. Bigger emphasis on international relations and political science more then anything else. However, they both have pretty good business programs and internationl ones. You should be in at American however, at GW I wouldn't say you are defintetely in.

This is the advice everyone else will give you. I have been on this board for quite some time. If I had to say aim for a school I'd pick one of the business specialty schools and whichever one you are more comfortable at.

Now get those applications rolling out and hopefully get acceptances rolling back to the mailbox.

There is another user on these forums who is applying to almost the exact same schools as you are. I think it was Collegewannabe I don't know if he's still around. The list is almost identical. However, you would be the better candidate from what I can remember. Good luck

I am starting to think that you might be the user formerly known as Collegewannabe because your list of schools is exactly the same and you happen to share a few of the same extracurriculars for the same years. You also both live in New Jersey and both transferred to a different school junior year and did better. However, you can't be Collegewannabe because he had a 1260 in June I think it was and you had a 1310 in May and now an improvement in your SAT score in October. Also he wasn't Chinese American either.

If Collegewannabe could get a 1420 with his english skills then they should stop making the Verbal section of the SAT because everyone would get 800's. His typing was absolutely awful. He used to go on 100 long posts sometimes 300 long posts with another member Enarang. Hahaha what a name Enarang sounds like a fruit. They used to rant and rave and troll about Babson and argue with Scubasteve and a few other members.

If you are Collegewannabe you are lying about your SAT score if you are not Collegewannabe you will get in over him at every place you apply.

Well Good luck!

Yeah it seems you would need financial aid but he didn't.

collegewannabe..i never heard of him...thanks for the help though dunkaroo

your very welcome, best wishes and best of luck in the near future

Bentley is outstanding esp for accounting and finance (so I do not see how it can be considered the Babson reject school) ...take a look at their financial trading room......their graduate in MIS is ranked like top 25 in the nation...Many students I've talked to who had originally considered Babson but chose Bentley said they were turned off when they visited because of the snobby kids there. Bentley can also kick Babson's butt at sports...they're D2 as opposed to D3

You havent heard of it? Open up the October 25th Times magazine to like pages 2-3 and you will see big ad OR view it here:

http://www.bentley.edu/tomorrow25/bentley_time_feature.pdf

i assume it would be a little late to apply to bentely.thanks for the help though.

i really need to visiit babson. the complaint about the annoying snobby rich population is a turnoff. this is important, and that is an important factor in what school i go to. anybody else have insight on this?

Yeah...add Bentley College because it's not too late.
Early Action is December 1st.
Reg Decision Feb 1st.

i know a lot of people who go to babson -- many are well-off, many are from out of the country, and there are also many students from nearby towns (like wellesley) or towns like darien, ct. HOWEVER, everyone i know from there is very nice...one girl pops into my mind -- from fargo, nd!

i dont even know if i can get into babson...i read so many good things about its business program (nice rankings, #1 in entreprenuersuhip etc.)...but its the small factors that ar every important about it. it is such an engima to me. i really need to visit it

you should be able to get into Babson. Rest assured that you have a very good chance so you can stop worrying. Yes, visiting a school like Babson is extremely important. It is a very specialized school for a certain group of people. I would say for your needs and desires if you don't like Babson definetely check out Bentley as it is very similar or perhaps pick some of the other schools on your list. For the last time stop posting about if you can get in or not because we have told you this numerous times.

This seems all too familiar to Collegewannabe. Asking time and time again if you can get in or not. Also the schools listed are exactly the same.

Oh well even if you are not the same user. You have a solid shot
