desperate senior in need of help

I appreciate anyone who is reading this, or giving me advice! I've always known the CC boards as a very friendly and helpful atmosphere.

I’m a Washington State senior who is a little late to hop on the boat with college admissions due to lots of indecision/anxiety about what I wanted to do career wise. However, I finally decided to pursue vocal performance with a possible double-major/minor in theatre. I’ve recently applied to three schools Western Washington University, Pacific Lutheran University, and Willamette University.

The problem is that I’m now very worried that I have not given myself enough options. I’m a full-time Running Start student, which means I’ve taken the entirety of my classes at a local community college for the past two years. My overall High School GPA isn’t that great, about a 3.5 or so, but my community college GPA is a 3.95, and I have excellent essays. I scored 27 on the ACT.

On top of this, I’m very much a granola, indie music, artsy type of girl and I’d prefer a college where I could meet many like-minded. Any suggestions? I realize it may be too late for me to apply anywhere else.

When you say "granola" and you're in Washington I say Evergreen. It's a "public liberal arts college" in Olympia. Check it out and see if you can still apply. It sounds like a good fit for you.

Reed? 10char

^ It's date was January 15th for RD.

It's worth a call to Reed and any other private school you may be interested in to see if they'll still take your application. Many of the private colleges had lower numbers of apps this year and have concerns about yield due to the economy. If you can pay in full, I think many will accept a late application.

Lewis & Clark (OR)

Thanks for all the suggestions, it is such a help! Does anyone know how the music/theatre program at Lewis & Clark is?

"On top of this, I’m very much a granola, indie music, artsy type of girl and I’d prefer a college where I could meet many like-minded."

Both Evergreen and Western Washington (Fairhaven) would fit you wonderfully well, and at a fraction of the cost of the privates, and they will take all of your Running Start credits both for advance standing and upper level courses. Those will both be wonderful options.

"However, I finally decided to pursue vocal performance with a possible double-major/minor in theatre"

Reed would be a BIG mistake. PLU's music performance department is among the best in the Pacific Northwest (much, much, much better than Reed's - which doesn't have one - and superior to Evergreen and WWU as well.)

You mentioned that PLU's music performance department is good mini, do you happen to know how they are for music history?
I am wanting a degree in either ethnomusicology or media studies, but i cant decide between Fairhaven and Evergreen...
