Desperate

Yes, like many others, I messed up my gpa horribly freshman year, even though I'm Indian. :( I believe I greatly improved, and senior year I'm sure I will make the grades I state I will. I'm currently a junior. I plan on majoring in chemical engineering, or pharmacy, so I need help please! I'd like to know if I'm even headed anywhere decent, with some help in predictions..

I'm from India, and a first generation student.. I will apply to, in order of preference:
Purdue University-West Lafayette
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Washington University-St. Louis
University of Missouri-Rolla
University of Missouri-Columbia
Webster University-St. Louis

Some other schools I don't remember... I feel like my life is down the drain because of my poor performance in H.S.

Out of the schools u meantioned all are match schools, except for Wash U. which is a reach. i would also look into vanderbilt university, they like to recruit minorities.

Well I know many colleges look for an upward trend. Your grades show an incredible upward trend.

I'm not basing my acceptances on minority status, because Indians are usually very smart, so I probably won't get any help from the fact that I'm Indian (from India, not native american).

strait A's in all AP classes senior yr....good luck withthat dude...but if u do i would look into A&M

The AP's are my specialty; I plan on majoring in either chemical engineering or biochemistry. The only problematic thing on that list would be the math or the literature. And what's A&M?

A&M is a string of universities... across the country, i believe. correct me if i
m wrong. i
m only 0.0000001% sure.

indians are not considered under represented minorities (in fact they are over represented) so you will definitely not get any minority concessions.

he will if he's a first generation RECENT immigrant . . .
if his family has been here for 30 years, no dice

I'm a first generation student.

If I get a 2300 on the SAT... will I be guaranteed admission to Purdue? That's my #1 school..

A&M = Agriculture and Mechanical Arts. Back in the mid-1800s, a law was passed designating that land would be donated to states in order to establish A&M colleges. Off the top of my head, I can't recall any that still maintain the A&M designation other than Texas A&M. Purdue is a Morrill Land Grand college.

Does that affect my chances, or is that extra info.. I'm clueless lol.

That was just extra information. I'm a bit confused since you said you were a junior, but posted senior grades. Are the senior grades estimates?

In any case, Purdue has rolling admssions. If you have already taken either the ACT with writing or the new SAT I, you can apply in September. You'll know by October whether or not you have been accepted.

Texas A&M has an excellent engineering program especially Chemical engineering. It is far more prestigious than UT's program. Same applies for biochemistry

What do rolling admissions mean?
