Desperately need help with reading section!

I'm not a native English speaker and has only been living here for 5 years. As you might assume at this point, my reading comprehension is still not good enough. I'm trying to get a 30 composite so I can get into a good college. On the October test, I got 32 on math, 30 on english, 28 on science and only a 22 on reading! How can I bump my reading score up to be relatively close to the other three subjects ? Please give me as many suggestions and advices that have worked for you as you can! I really need this 30!!! Last chance for me on this Dec test!!! :(

The reading section is challenging because the primary way that you can raise it is by, shockingly, reading more. The ideal preparation for it would be to read daily from one of the four sections (fictional, humanities, social sciences, science) for ages in advance, but considering that the test is next month, time is far more of a hindrance (much like on the actual test!). I would thus recommend that the best way to increase your score is to get a basic template down for the test. If you can, get a hold of an ACT prep book and read the critical reading section in it. Then take a few practice tests and try to finish in the allotted time.

When I take it, I try to carefully monitor the time. As I go through the questions, I skip the ones that would clearly take a longer time to answer (for example, questions that require you to find the one answer that does not work) and return to them at the end of the section. I also only allow myself 8:45 on each passage. Remember that your goal is to get the highest possible amount. It’s annoying, but sometimes you need to willingly sacrifice one question in a passage to move on to the next passage. That way, you’ll not run out of time with an entire section left!If I am not done within that time, I guess on the rest and move on to the next passage. Also, start with your best category first. For me, it is the science section then the fictional section.

if you think reading is hard, then read the questions first (for those who are not native speakers or lack vocab or read slow)

if you can read fast (finish in less than 3 mintues) read the passage first.
