Desperately need your help!!!

I regret being a slacker throughout my HS years and i guess im paying the consequences now.
I currently live in NY and attend a prestigious private school and well known for its academics. I would like to stay in NY but i don't mind going to California, Florida, or anywhere near NY.

GPA(unweighted): 76.65 (2.2)
SAT: Reading:490 Math:500 Writing:520 Essay:9
ACT: Didn't take.
AP/Honor Classes: None

ECs:
Volunteered at a local library 100+ hours
Cross Country Track & Field (Freshman Year)
Indoor Track & Field (All 4 Years)
Outdoor Track & Field (All 4 Years)
Yearbook Staff

Colleges I'd like to attend (in order) :
USC (i understand this is impossible but my parents and aunt are making me apply)
UCLA(i understand this is impossible but my parents and aunt are making me apply)
SUNY Albany
SUNY Oneonta
FIT
SUNY Buffalo
Queens College

I've recently received letters from SUNY Oneonta and Occidental College about recruiting me for Track & Field. To answer any questions, yes, I performed well on the track throughout my HS career and achieved many medals and awards. I'm just wondering if these recruitment letters up my chance to going to either school. I'll probably not consider applying for Occidental but will most definitely apply for Oneonta.

Thanks for any responses/posts/advice in advance!

Are you crazy?! Go for it at Occidental … better school and California.
Take the SAT again!

Thanks for the reply! I’m retaking them this October. As regards to Occidental, 44k a year is a bit too expensive…

First bump!

Take standardized tests again if possible, that should definitely increase your chances at some of these schools. Might offset your very low gpa.

To be honest when i do retake the SATs i might just get like mid 1600s will that increase my chances?

Second bump!

I’d also like to know my chances if i apply early action on any of these schools and early decision as well.

bumpedy bump

Early action tends to not effect peoples odds very much, if you apply ED your odds will increase a bit but not significantly…

Retake your sat’s, any increase would raise your chances, UCLA and USC are extreme high reaches for your stats, i’m sorry, i strongly recommend Occidental. Good luck  chance me back if you can.

Thanks for the replies. So EA and EDs doesn’t really increase my chances that much? And I am planning to retake my SATs this October. Occidental’s tuition is expensive and i don’t think im able to afford it. Not to mention ill be out of state. I’m kinda hoping to just attend either SUNY Albany or SUNY Oneonta. Odd question but, what are my chances percentage wise.

You could try to get a loan, work-study, apply for scholarships, find grants, etc.

If you can’t afford to go to occidental

Go for Occidental if finance is not much of a concern. It’s a really small-knit school. Only 2,000 students and a lot of acres! It provides a very paradise kind of feel but I will tell you that their sports are not that competitive.

Thanks for the replies. Let’s be honest here. I looked up Occidental average gpa/sat and i don’t think I can get in with my grades. Plus, I don’t think the recruitment form will help me out that much either. As regards to the financial situation, i probably won’t be able to cover it.

I’d also like to add on 2 colleges and like to know your feedback. Stony brook and Manhattan college. I have many many friends that attend stony brook and can possible write me a recommendation (if that’s even possible) Chances?

practically impossible for usc and ucla
the others seem quite doable

Yea i understand its impossible but worth a shot
I’m still quite nervous about the other schools though. My grades aren’t really good enough to attend most of them. I’m planning to apply early descision to either Suny Albany or Suny Oneonta. But, it seems like i wont be accepted to Albany…

bump bump bump
