Destination Tulane 4-19

Anyone? And for those who have gone already any advice on how to navigate it and help D get a feel for students/campus/etc? This will be her second visit. At three of the other schools she is considering she knows current freshmen and has or will have done an overnight at 2 of those with friends. Don't want Tulane to lose out b/c she won't get the same "social immersion" she did elsewhere. Thoughts?

Good question, I was thinking the same thing, I hope they get some chances to interact with other students.

Well since you will be there on a Friday, there is typically something going on in the late afternoon on the LBC Quad. Of course, attendance varies by level of student interest in the particular programming, but I would definitely check that out. If there is a student panel that day, they would be a good source for suggestions.

Thanks KreativeK…hoping maybe a cc tulane parent of a current student may offer up their kid as an ambassador. I know Vitrac’s D1 is not around…

We went to Destination Tulane a few weeks ago. My D is interested in Architecture. We had an opportunity to spend some time at the Arch dept and got a tour by a student who introduced us to several other students to talk with as we walked through the studios.
We also connected with the daughter of a friend of my sister in laws. She was great! She sat with us for over an hour and answered all kinds of questions. Most kids seem more than willing to spend time with prospective students.

Thanks 2asmom. Working on some options to talk to current students…would love for her to spend Friday evening with current students or other prospective ones.

Mofthree… I sent you a message about possibly meeting up.

Another idea is to contact your high school counseling office to see if they will give you a name of a graduate from your high school who attends Tulane. Contact information is easy to find on your own. When we went to visit Vanderbilt, I facebooked (cold called) a former student from my son’s high school. He didn’t know us from Adam, but he graciously agreed to meet with us and even arranged for us to sit in on a class. His insights were invaluable because he could speak directly to the course work, housing, student life, fraternities, culture shock et al.
